Job Description:

As a Registered Staff Nurse within the Chronic Pain Service, you will have the chance to provide high-quality care to patients with chronic pain. The key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the safe and effective care of patients attending the X-ray unit for pain management treatments.
  • Assisting Consultants in Pain Management with pain management treatments and procedures.
  • Managing the unit’s daily operations, including patient admissions and discharge processes.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills during the patient admission process.
  • Ensuring radiation safety by wearing a lead apron during X-ray treatments.
  • Pain management experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Registered Adult Nurse with the National Nursing Council (NMC).
  • Evidence of the necessary competence to revalidate in accordance with NMC guidelines.

Experience:

  • 12-18 months post-registration experience in acute secondary NHS care.
  • Evidence of professional development, career progression, and competence in your current role.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to become a practice supervisor or assessor for student nurses and meet NMC requirements for student supervision.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Literacy and numeracy skills to manage patient care effectively.
  • Proficient IT skills, including electronic record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in clinical skills, with a willingness to contribute to broader practices.
  • Capacity to manage patient care and take on clinical leadership roles within your practice context.
