Role Overview:

The successful candidate will work within the Chemotherapy Satellite Pharmacy, providing essential support across inpatient, outpatient, and discharge services. You’ll lead daily operations, ensure compliance with pharmaceutical standards, and play a pivotal role in mentoring junior staff.

This role includes a rotational commitment:

  • One Saturday (7:00 AM – 12:00 PM) annually
  • One Bank Holiday annually

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage workflow across dispensary services
  • Oversee daily operations to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Supervise inventory, health & safety, and staff training
  • Ensure controlled drug compliance and minimize medication waste
  • Demonstrate best practices in service delivery and medication safety

Essential Qualifications:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC)
  • Accredited Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT)
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • One of the following qualifications:
    • Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Technician Principles and Practice
    • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills & BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science
    • Equivalent GPhC-approved qualifications

Essential Experience:

  • Currently working at Band 4 level or above
  • Experience managing workloads in a hospital pharmacy
  • Supervisory experience over junior staff
  • Familiarity with Controlled Drug legislation, inventory systems, and NHS policies
  • Knowledge of GDP, COSHH, and Health & Safety standards
  • Proficient in pharmaceutical IT systems and dispensing software

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience developing or implementing SOPs
  • Involvement in staff training or mentorship
  • Understanding of ward-based practices and clinical trials
  • Familiarity with new pharmaceutical procedures and policies

Disclosure and Barring Service Check:

This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, requiring a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to verify the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
